Even though it’s a federal crime, astute criminals will happily continue to break into these security systems. Whether to watch intimate moments between a mother and child, or perhaps to keep track of a family’s timetable in preparation for a break in.
It’s a shame that security cameras, which were originally made to protect us, have suddenly become a way to assist criminals or perverts. But there is a way to defend yourself from these sick lunatics!
It turns out that all of these internet-enabled cameras can easily be hacked into if you don’t change the password yourself, and not something like “12345,” or “Password!” When these camera come in from the factory, if you keep the password set to its original setting, then any criminal can easily guess the login key.
To better defend yourself and your family from these cyber criminals, it’s best to update your passwords frequently. As annoying as that may be, it could end up saving you a lot of hassles in the long run. Make sure your Wi-Fi has a good passcode, and do not give your information out to anyone; the family in the video below didn’t even have a password set for their wireless internet. Essentially they left the garage door open with the keys in their car!
While you may trust your neighbors, you never know who might drive up in front of your house while you’re at the store and log into your internet connection! Using a smartphone or your iPhone to check up on your baby is great, just make sure you’re using this technology responsibly!
